I was born and raised in the city of Detroit so no matter where I may live, I will always and forever be a Detroit Girl. Although I am an engineer by trade, I am a florist by choice - or simply put a Fleurengineer. Engineering feeds my mind, but styling floral and events feeds my heart and soul. I love to merge my techie/nerdy side with my artsy/creative side when I style events. I mix various textures and colors in a unique way so that your style and story shine through. Not only is this accomplished in the larger focal pieces, but it is most definitely found in the details. The details allow each guest to experience their own personal celebration and bear witness to who you are. This is where the connection takes place...where the magic happens.

began styling floral and events in 1991, at the age of 19, when I was asked to decorate the events on my college campus while pursuing an engineering degree. The satisfaction and enjoyment that came with each event was surprising at first. I didn't think my path of floral and event design would extend beyond college until all of my family and friends began to ask me to plan and design their weddings. The expressions of love and appreciation of our clients sparked the founding of The Velvet Touch Events in 2001.

My dad was my mom's first and only boyfriend. They were inseparable. They were married right after graduation and together for 21 years before he passed away. Growing up the 2nd of 3 sisters, I watched them teach us the true meaning of love and dedication in good and bad times. No matter how tough times got, they always taught my sisters and I that love is what truly matters.
This is the same love I pour into my craft with every bouquet, every detail, and every event design. I tell my team that we only have one chance to get it right, one chance to create the most perfect, unique space for you to express your love. We move mountains to make that happen.
