The use of the proper floral care solutions is critical in the care and handling process of fresh cut flowers. There are 3 key functions or roles that these solutions play in the process – Hydration, Feeding/Nourishing & Finishing/Protecting. Although the bottles look similar, they all serve very different purposes.
HYDRATE: Quick Dip | Hydraflor
This hydrating solution should be used during processing to restore water quickly to flowers that have been in dry storage or that are drooping or stressed. Flowers should receive a fresh cut underwater and placed in hydrating solution at room temperature or for 1-1.5 hours. Stressed flowers should remain in the solution until they are firm.
FEED/NOURISH: Crystal Clear (Powder or Liquid Concentrate)
This preservative should be used during the conditioning process to provide food and extend the life of the cut flowers.
FINISH/PROTECT: Crowning Glory | Finishing Touch | Pristine
These sprays should be used during the final step of the process on completed arrangements to hydrate and lock in moisture, slowing the transpiration process (evaporation of water from leaves, buds and petals).
